HEALTH CARE
South West Local Health Integration Network
CHALLENGE AND OPPORTUNITY
In March 2006, the government of the province of Ontario passed legislation that created 14 Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs). The South West LHIN covers an area from Lake Erie to the Bruce Peninsula and is home to nearly one million people. It is responsible for the planning, integration and funding of more than 150 health service providers, including hospitals, long-term care homes, mental health agencies, community support services and Community Care Access Centres.
RESULTS
With our partners, we developed a graphic identity and brand style for the LHIN that referred to, but was different from, the Ontario Government health care identity. Our communications plan helped the board of directors understand their role in communicating the LHIN messages in the community and was used to involve the community of stakeholders in the region - from health care providers to users. We created many communications tools, including stakeholder engagement materials, that successfully built support for the South West LHIN’s strategic plan.
